Breakfasts are very very good and plentiful!!
Everything is very comfortable, the room is themed and nicely decorated with bedroom 1 which was lovely, tea making facilities plus canopy beds. I would stay there again, thoroughly enjoyed this place.

The food was delightful and the bar was great. The location was stunning and beautiful, in the west Cotswold area, in the beautiful area.
Almost perfect.

The units are spacious and modern, featuring canopy beds. Plenty of supplies are provided, including an electric kettle, central heating, and an iron/ironing board. - the hotel is centrally located, close to a nearby pub, the village of Painswick, and Stroud. - the staff are efficient and handle parking arrangements nearby.

Friendly staff; unusual layout of hotel; quirky room - 4 poster bed, extra couch/ single bed; bags of space. Nice big sitting room for guests downstairs. Old beams in room. Great breakfast - piping hot.Generally different from standard guest house/ hotel.
Slightly strange that chef had gone on holiday for two weeks in July - high season for guests. Restaurant was closed, with presumably loss of revenue. Royal Oak next door did very nice meals, but we had lovely meal in Cardynham last time we were in Painswick and were looking forward to repeating experience. Feel that they lost out on business from guests - recognised a few faces at breakfast from the Royal Oak the night before!

Lovely location. Querky, interesting building/facilities. Excellent breakfast. Would definately stay again.
I feel the bedroom and bathroom (Medieval Garden) was rather "tired" regarding its decoration/furniture/soft fittings. The window frames are in need of a good lick of paint! If refreshed, the bedroom would have been just lovely. Unfortunately, the older waitress who served breakfast was surly to the point of being rude. The breakfast itself was excellent, but marred by the atmosphere created by the waitress. However, the owner and rest of the staff were very friendly, helpful, and welcoming.

Our room was unusual but very comfortable and it was a bonus that we had a view of the countryside over the roof tops. The staff, 2 ladies, who looked after us in the morning were excellent: very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was superb
The gentleman who met us on arrival, the owner?, Was quite rude and off hand. He was dressed in a t-shirt and long "swimming" shorts: not what we would expect from a place like this! Because of him and his lack of welcome we shall probably not return nor would we recommend the hotel to anyone else. This is a great shame because other aspects of the place are very good but first impressions are so important!

Very friendly reception, made to feel at ease. Room very nice, lovely view of church. Breakfast was unbelievably generous and wholesome
It is a shame that they could not serve evening meals as the food was so good.

The room was spacious and designed in a very imaginative way. The four poster bed was picuresque and also very comfortable. The shower gave a good strong flow of water although this was affected when a lot of water was being drawn elsewhere. The building had real charm being over 500 years old. The restaurant was not overpriced and the food first class. There was a big choice of breakfast. The staff were helpful and attentive. This is not a chain hotel and the manager clearly took an interest in the guests.
If you stay in an ancient building you have to be careful of low doorways, but this was the only thing that presented any problem. We expected this however and it would spoil the building to alter it.

Location was superb - right in the middle of town and views to valley, just beautiful. All staff were very friendly and could not have been more helpful. Easy access to shops, pubs and restaurant if you did not want to eat in. Breakfast was fab!

We loved the room - old hotel with lots of charm, but modern facilities. Also centrally located in twon, but yet close to walking trails in the countryside. The breakfast was one of the best anywhere!
Parking was a little tough - narrow streets, but that is pretty typical of the small towns in this area.
